Parental Input/ Concerns
I encourage parents to be involved in their student’s education. Therefore, please feel free to contact me at anytime about your student’s progress, both positive and negative. I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement; so I will be in touch with parents for not only negative circumstances, but positive ones as well. I will be more than happy to meet with you at any time to discuss your student or the class; just contact me and we will set up an appointment. There are several ways in which parents can reach me: E-mail, voicemail, through the school’s website, or sent in a note to school with your child. RWelsh@GEHRHSD.NET I will return any messages I receive in a timely matter. Because of technical difficulties, if you do not hear from me within a timely matter, please try again or contact Oakcrest High School directly.
I want to have a strong, positive rapport between myself, my students, and you. I encourage any feedback or concerns from parents. It is in the best interest of the student if both you and I are on the same page when it comes to your students’ education and educational needs. http://www.oakcrest.net/
There are many opportunities at Oakcrest High School for parents to become involved in school activities. Oakcrest offers several clubs such as Parent’s Club, PTO, sports/ play related activities, Dance/ Prom Committee, and Fundraisers. Please feel free to contact the school or visit the school’s web-site for a complete list of school activities.
Being a parent myself, I understand the time restraints of juggling family and a career without having to spend extra time you already do not have; but please realize the importance to being involved with what your student is doing for eight hours every day. Like adults, students are under a great deal of stress and pressure during the year. I feel that it is important for students to have someone they can talk to, besides their peers, and discuss the positive and negative aspects of their days. Remember, if you are not giving your student advice on life and concerns, than who is?
