Period 6 - Film Appreciation

  • FILM APPRECIATION

    Students enrolled in the Film Appreciation course will explore film as an art form as well as examine the impact of cinema on our culture. They will develop the skills necessary to identify the effects of society and culture on a variety of film genres. Students will experience and develop an interest in motion pictures as well as improve their comprehension by interpreting, analyzing and evaluating film in order to categorize it into genres. The course will follow the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts with special emphasis placed on theme, symbolism, acting, screenwriting, cinematography, special effects, direction, editing and sound. Finally, the course will trace the historic development of film in our society and culture.

    Students need to bring a notebook and something to write with on a daily basis.
