GEHR Info: Change in January Schedule
Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
We would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in following our COVID-19 protocols during in-person instruction. Due to our collective attention and caution, we have been successful in limiting close contacts when the inevitable positive test occurs. We are committed to in-person learning and bringing the best we have to offer to our students in hopes of fully reopening sometime this school year.
After careful consideration, and in cooperation with Atlantic County school districts and the Department of Public Health, we have decided to remain 100% virtual following the Holiday/Winter Recess. From January 4 – January 15, we will follow a 100% virtual schedule for all students. (See Attached)
In-person instruction will resume following the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on January 19, 2021.
We continually remind you that the health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We believe this decision will help slow the spread of the virus within our school community. We urge you to remain cautious and follow all the guidelines we know to be effective, most especially limiting gatherings and remaining six feet apart. We all look forward to reopening our schools, safely, on January 19, 2021.
As you may be aware, I am retiring on December 31, 2020. This may be my last communication with you. It has been my sincere honor to have served you as your superintendent. I am proud of our achievements and wish our new superintendent, James Reina, well as he continues to lead our district forward in providing outstanding opportunities for our students.
Best wishes for a joyous Holiday Season and a Happy and Healthy 2021!
John J. Keenan
Superintendent of Schools
